RE: Jayco Shower

I have the same problem if my Jayco sits perfectly level. This last outing I kept my slide side about a half bubble higher, then dropped the stabilizers and slid out the slides and the floor stayed dry. But I think I'll be doing the pleated door upgrade this winter

RE: Filling propane tanks

When a tank gets empty I remove the tank and sneak out to our grain dryer and fill my 30's from the big tank.:E

RE: Removing all 4 wheels on fiver?

Why not just find a competent tire shop? They don't seem to be scarce. Then if it drops on someone's foot, it won't be yours! Sluggo DITTO...never heard of that excuse before

RE: Is there an "Official" Trailering School?

I have about 16 different type of trailers and pull behind implements on my farm and I'm hear to tell you there isn't anyone going to tell you how to do it better than just experiencing it yourself. I would suggest maybe borrowing a friend's bumper hitch flatbed trailer or even renting one at a rental supply place and just drive out in a rural area. Don't start out learning to drive a truck/trailer combo by buying a $40,000 RV that you can't see around. First task anyone needs to learn is to use a TV that has mirrors capable of seeing behind the trailer. Use the mirrors to see to change lanes, make turns, back up, etc. You guys that back up sticking your head out the window might work good for backing on your drivers side but what about your passenger side. How long is your neck? I've drove a semi & dump trailer for years in construction and what do you suppose would happen to your head and neck when that raised dump trailer decided to tip over on the drivers side?

RE: Jayco Eagle owners

To the OP...you'll love the layout. Good to see Jayco making it in the Eagle now.

RE: Tire Help on My New Jayco 32BHDS

Everyone raves about Jayco and their legendary quality. However no one talks about their dirty little secret. Undersized tires! A trailer of that size Must have at minimum 16 inch wheels with LT rated tires IMHO. But then again I am willing to bet that if you look at the axle ratings they are like 4000 or maybe 5200 pound axles. How about I go weigh each axle and then both and then we will decide if it is a tire problem or a travel trailer problem. If I got 4000 lbs on one axle which has tires on it for 5080 lbs (2540 x2)how the *#@* could it be only Jayco's fault? If you can prove to me that only Jayco puts too small of tire under their TT and all the other travel trailer companies are running 16" tires then I'll consider you a wise man. I was really looking to get rid of the Goodyear tire not the Jayco camper. I was looking for quality opinions. I have two Gooyear dealers here in my town and one won't get me another Goodyear Marathon to replace my blowout because he "didn't want to be responsible for tearing up my TT when it happens again". And the other had to order one in but said he would only sell me a Denman tire.

Trailer in driveway just the way it was when I tried to bring it home. I'll go weigh it and let you know the results.

RE: Tire Help on My New Jayco 32BHDS

I agree with the too low of tire on heavy trailers and I should have remembered my parents blowing 3 Goodyears trying to get home from Texas one winter. They have the same tire on their Hitchhiker 5ver. I don't think the 65 mph speed limit is much of a problem until you max out the tire rating as I am doing now with this camper. I just don't want to be scared to go anywhere again.

Tire Help on My New Jayco 32BHDS

Well I took my first trip with the new camper(in sig) and had my first blowout. Running the infamous Goodyear Marathon 225/75/15D. Anyone else running this size TT running the Goodyears or have you upgraded to something else or went to a larger tire? From reading here the Maxxis sounds like the best tire in this size but is the move up from a 2540 lb tire to a 2830(E) tire enough of a jump? Should I be looking at 16's?

RE: 2007 Jayco 31 BHS Jay Flight TT

consider a Toyota Tundra to pull it. It's really a 3/4 ton truck anyway when you look at all the specs. Don't automatically assume you need a 3/4 ton or even a diesel. Look around. I looked up Toyota Tundra's payload. I come up with 1410 to 2060 lbs max equipped. Now if you take the DRY hitch weight of 1035 lbs the 31 BHS adds, add the 1000 pounds of camping stuff you accumulate over the years in the camper, throw in some gear in the bed of the truck, then add 5 people in the cab. Wouldn't you be writing this same article about the Toyota?

RE: Looking for the perfect tripod or mount for Satellite dish

I was camping over the miserably wet Mother's day weekend and my dish 500 and berger surveyor's tripod worked flawless. When I broke down the tripod I had water coming out of the holes where the tripod legs were. I have a hard time thinking the bullseye stake would work.

RE: How to store Equalizer?

I put the bars and pins in an inexpensive hard shotgun case from Walmart for about $10. The hitch I leave on or sit in truck bed under cover

RE: so disappointed in jayco and rv direct

Im so disappointed in both the jayco 213 and rv direct. picked up my camper from storage and found that the linoleum flooring was cracked, still took it camping this week and the rear slided out made some noises going out and when tried to get it in yesterday it wouldnt go in. so i called rv direct in Des Moines where i bought it and they told me " what are we supose to do " take it to a jayco dealer or bring it up here and drop it off and we will call you when its done. well its a long drive and with the bed still out i didnt think it would be good on it to drive all that way with it out. so i took it to a local jayco dealer, the dealer asked where i bought it, he said I should take it back to where i bought it or what till this fall when they have time. the biggest problem is for saving 2,000 dollars i now have a camper i cant use and still have to make payments on it any help on what i can do? Buy from a local dealer next time. But for now just enjoy that $2000 you saved.

RE: Black tank chemicals

We use yogurt. Ok, I'm joking. We mix 1 cup borateem, half cup pine-sol, three tablespoons ammonia in a gallon jug ... fill with warm water ... shake well ... pour a cup or two in the tank as needed. Just DON"T MIX ammonia with bleach

RE: Inverter, towing, & Crock Pot!

If you had a Motorhome you would be all right but not with a trailer. About 20 amps is the best you can hope for from your truck and you will probably by using close to 30. Sam 30 amp crock pot??? You lost me with this post.

RE: broke down

the m/h has 57690miles on it no warning not sure if it had any problems in past i only put 4000 miles on it since ive had it.fluid was fine before trip. I'd sure have a hard time buying a used motor home without knowing a little mechanical history. Didn't you ask the dealer or individual you bought it from if the tranny fluid had ever been changed, did you ever change it? Never assume the moron who owned it before you ever took the time and little expense to change transmission fluid.
